Celebrating a Decade of Innovation and Collaboration: A Message from Tim Soulo, Ahrefs

As we mark ten years of meaningful engagement with the SEO community, I wanted to take a moment to reflect on our journey and invite your valuable insights. I’m Tim Soulo from Ahrefs, and since joining the company in August 2015, I’ve been committed to fostering an open dialogue with our users—our partners in growth and innovation.

A Tradition of Listening: Reflecting on Our Feedback Threads

Since that initial call for input in 2015, I’ve made it a tradition to reconnect with the community every two years around this anniversary. These conversations have been pivotal in shaping the evolution of Ahrefs, and I am proud to share the progression alongside you. Here’s a quick overview of the previous years’ outreach:

While we are a private company, we view our community of users as our investors—your feedback is instrumental in guiding our strategic development and ensuring that we serve your needs effectively.

Navigating a Tumultuous Two Years in SEO

The past two years have been nothing short of extraordinary for the SEO industry. Rapid advancements in artificial intelligence have disrupted traditional workflows, reshaping how search operates and how marketers work. In this context, Ahrefs has been navigating these tectonic shifts with agility, aiming to help our users adapt and thrive.

Here are four major themes that have defined our efforts during this period:

1. Embracing AI Integration

AI’s influence on search and automation is undeniable. At Ahrefs, prioritizing AI integration has become a cornerstone of our strategy. We are investing heavily in data collection and developing solutions that empower you to navigate complex landscapes like GEO, AEO, LLMO, and SEO more effectively.

Our flagship AI-powered tool, Brand Radar, boasts the largest LLM visibility index available and has become our fastest-growing product, generating $1 million in additional ARR every two weeks. Furthermore, we’re embedding AI into existing workflows—not just for flashy features but for functionalities that enhance your daily operations. Our recent launch of an official MCP server, connecting chatbots directly to the Ahrefs API, exemplifies this commitment.

2. Evolving the SEO Ecosystem

I’ve always believed that SEO is inherently interconnected with broader marketing disciplines. It’s not a silo but a part of a holistic, cross-functional approach to discoverability. Over the past two years, we’ve expanded our platform to support this vision by integrating social media and new channels alongside traditional SEO insights.

Noteworthy developments include the launch of the AI Content Kit, access to free Web Analytics for a growing number of websites, and a beta version of our Social Media Management tool. These innovations aim to provide a comprehensive toolkit to help you be found, engaged, and understood across multiple platforms.

3. Improving Accessibility for All Users

Recognizing the diverse needs of our community, we introduced a more affordable plan at just $29/month, making advanced SEO tools more accessible. Our free offerings have also expanded, now featuring Web Analytics for verified sites, Site Audit reports for up to 5,000 pages/month, and enhanced GSC reporting capabilities—providing greater value for everyday users.

4. Scaling for Larger Teams and Enterprises

To better serve large organizations, we’ve made significant enhancements in scalability and reporting. The launch of API v3 offers nearly complete programmatic access to our data—mirroring the UI experience—enabling automation and integration at scale.

The introduction of Report Builder and Portfolios allows teams to compile, visualize, and track performance across multiple domains or business units seamlessly. Additionally, upgrades in security—such as SSO and granular user permissions—along with hosting redundancies across three locations, have dramatically increased the platform’s reliability and resilience.

Our Ongoing Commitment and Your Feedback

These updates reflect just a fraction of what the Ahrefs team has been working on daily. With over 40 feature releases in July alone, continuous improvement remains core to our mission. Your insights and feedback are vital—they steer our product roadmap and ensure that we stay aligned with your evolving needs.

Now, we want to hear from you.

  • What features or support should Ahrefs prioritize to help you succeed?
